It's My Birthday! (January 25th)

Turning 17...

I can't even believe I am already turning 17 years old, the past year of my life has gone by so fast! This past year has taught me so much and I have experienced things I never thought I would get the chance to experience. I got a truck, I did a photo shoot for a huge company, I started to come into my own style, and I really began to find out more of who I am and who I want to be in the future. I don't really like to make a huge deal out of my birthday, but I think it is a good time to look back and reflect on how I have changed and grown as a person. I'm really happy with the person I have grown into over the past year and I can't wait to keep evolving. One thing I have been so blessed with since I turned 16 was amazing friends. I put them over almost everything, they are my life. I don't know what I would do with out my best friends, they are there 100% of the time to give me advice, listen to me, support me, laugh with me and they are always down to have a good time. A major reason I feel it is necessary to mention my friends in this blog is because I feel that the "16-17" year has been my biggest growing year because of my friends. They influence me so much and get me through everything. I can't even put it into words how thankful I am for them and I love them so much! I would not be who I am at 17 if it weren't for my group of amazing people that I enjoy every single day.
I just want to thank everyone for always supporting me and my goals and especially my website. To those of you who visit my page frequently, I want to let you all know that I am so grateful and I couldn't ask for a better birthday present than you all continuing to support me. I feel so humble to be where I am at the age of 17 and again I just have to say that none of my accomplishments would even be possible with out all of you. So thank you all for making 16 such an incredible and memorable year of my life... Let's hope to make this next year even better and I can't wait to see the person I have grown into by the time I am 18... So until then-

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!

High School Relationships

Why do teens need them so badly?

Why do so many teenagers want a relationship? So many of us crave that perfect bond between ourselves and that one other person that can never be broken, but so many of us also fail to realize that we are still so young and have our whole lives ahead of us for that.
In our society today, dating and being in relationships is "normal", so in order for some people to feel normal, accepted, or even popular, one must constantly have to be dating. I want to make it clear that when I say this, I don't mean that people literally think "Oh my gosh, I have to fit in so I'm just going to date someone!". This is something that people think with out even knowing it (as crazy as that sounds). As humans, we naturally think subconsciously which causes us to act certain ways and do certain things. There is nothing wrong with this- we just can't control it sometimes. Dating is almost like a trend that will never go away. Denim jeans: never has to be said that they are in style because they always are, everyone wears them, people wear them different ways, everyone likes a different style of them and approaches them differently. That is my comparison.
Another reason teenagers feel the need to be in relationships all the time is because at our age, we think we know everything. Combine that fact with hormones and mood-swings (which are inevitable parts of growing up) and you get a teen who feels like they are going to find love that will last for the rest of their lives at a young age and no one can tell them any different. It isn't entirely bad for a teen to feel this way, but it just isn't realistic and from what I hear, you realize that when you get older. Don't blame yourself for thinking this way either, television and movies are constantly showing examples of teens who fall in love in high school and end up marrying that person and being with them for the rest of their lives. Yes those stories are cute and heartwarming, but how often does that happen in real life? Only on very rare occasions.
Why can't some people depend on their friends if they are lonely? Well, not only are relationships with friends different than relationship-relationships, but most likely their friends are dating too! Teens tend to be a tad bit over-emotional, so when they don't have a girlfriend or boyfriend, they feel sad and lonely. This could be caused from a breakup but it isn't necessarily. When you are single and your friends are not, it gets hard because nobody wants to be that single friend. Everybody can go on group dates and stuff and then there you are, alone, being the 3rd or even 5th wheel. Trust me, I get it, but don't focus on being lonely. Focus on having fun with your friends and being a flirt with others you are possible attracted to!
Hi, I'm a teen too, I understand. When you are in a relationship, you always have someone to text, call, hang out with, and walk in the halls at school with, and when you are single it can get pretty lonely. My advice to you is to not think about dating and how lonely you are. Throw yourself into your school work and other creative projects. Use all of your energy you put to feeling sad and lonely for something positive instead. If you are single in high school, it is not the end of the world. Have fun. Don't feel like you have to find your soul mate right now and try not to be so eager to grow up. You only spend about 7 years of your life being a teenager, think of how many years outside of that you have to be able to find someone to share your life with. Please, do not ever feel like you need to depend on someone else for your own happiness. The day will come when you meet someone amazing, but you can't force something like that. Love isn't hard, so don't work for it.

Best Music of 2011

(According to me...)

The top albums of 2011 that I will remember are:

"Watch The Throne" by Jay-Z and Kanye West

This album will definitely be remembered for years to come, as it is a complete collection of collaborations between two of the world's most major rappers in history. Jay and Kanye go so crazy on this CD, every single song is powerful and their friendship and bond is something that the listener can feel is authentic and real. The sound of the album overall is very unique also, and very unlike the usual rap songs that are being played on the radio every day.

"Born This Way" by Lady Gaga
Obviously, this album is quite different than the one above, however it is just as equally important to the music of 2011 to me. This album was Gaga's 3rd album and it had a way different sound than the first two. It wasn't really what I was expecting at all (what are you even supposed to expect from her?), but the result was incredibly beyond anything I could have imagined. What I like about this CD that makes it special is that every song has a meaning, whether it states it by the obvious lyrics, or if you have to do some digging around to find metaphors and analogies. "Born This Way" is by far one of the best albums of 2011 and it definitely reminds me of the summertime!
"Take Care" by Drake

After a minor setback on the release of Drake's 2nd major album, I knew for sure that this album was going to be amazing. The reason being that Drake released a statement regarding the setback, saying that the reason for it was that paperwork for a few of the songs were not completed in time and he wanted to include those songs in order to make sure the CD was close to flawless. Well, it was worth the wait because "Take Care" is a musical, lyrical, and emotional masterpiece. I will be listening to this CD for quite some time. It is simply unforgettable.
"4" by Beyonce

Of course, "4" is probably my favorite album of 2011. It is so different than anything Beyonce has ever released. This CD wasn't created with a bunch of songs that producers chose because they thought they were good "radio songs", but these songs were created with a focus on unique beats, sounds, and real emotions. There aren't too many typical "I'm Beyonce and I'm in your face, back down" songs, and that is what I love about it. These songs were created with genuine meanings and lyrics that were obvious that they came from Beyonce's heart and soul. "4" is by far my favorite album from Beyonce and I will of course always remember the year 2011 when I hear the songs from it.

The songs that will always remind me of 2011 are:

"Give Me Everything" by Pitbull featuring Ne-Yo, Afrojack and Nayer

"Where Them Girls At" by David Guetta featuring Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj
"All Of The Lights" by Kanye West featuring Rihanna and Kid Cudi
The Best Music Videos of 2011 are:

"Headlines" by Drake
"Countdown" by Beyonce
"Moment For Life" by Nicki Minaj and Drake
"We Found Love" by Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris

Other songs that made 2011 memorable:

2011 has been a great year, and the music only made it better!
I can't wait to see what music 2012 has in store for us... I hope you enjoyed!
