"Firework" by Katy Perry

Well there you have it, my extremely large, maybe too big list of the top songs of the decade. These songs will always be remembered by me and hopefully you all too. I have enjoyed doing research and looking back at the past ten years in music. Every song holds a special meaning and memory for me.
Thank you so much for reading this blog it truly means a lot to me. This is probably the biggest blog I have worked on so far. I want to thank you especially if you have read this entire thing because I know it was really long LOL.
I thought about doing another blog about my year 2010 overall but I'm not sure if I will have time. So if I don't get around to it, let me just tell you that one of the main accomplishments I made in 2010 has to be this website. I have really enjoyed sharing some of my most inner thoughts with everybody as well as sharing just fun ones! Know that I take this website very seriously and everything I say on here really comes from my heart. I appreciate everyone who supports me and this site and I am so thankful that I have the ability to reach out to people like this... I hope to take it to the next level in 2011 and accomplish so much more than I ever even imagined. As always, thank you.

Stay fly in 2011, see you then! :)

My Christmas Wishes Came True, Did Yours?

I had an awesome Christmas this year! Family time is always fun and I pretty much got every gift that was on my list! Oh yeah, the food was great too! I had so much fun this Christmas, even though it wasn't that cold (hello Houston weather...). I spent Christmas Eve at my Grandma's house with my cousins and family and had a blast just being wild and crazy with them. On Christmas Day, I woke all my siblings up at about 7AM saying "OH YEA! WAKE UP YEA!" (in my Pauly D voice, see Jersey Shore) and "IT'S CHRISTMAS TiiiiiME" (also in my Pauly D voice) so we could start the day and open our presents.
After we opened our gifts we had more family over at our house and well, continued to be wild and crazy!
Overall it was a pretty good Christmas, but winter break is not over yet- I'm looking forward to New Years!
How did your Christmas go?
I hope it went as well as mine :)

Keri Hilson's New Video 'Pretty Girl Rock'

I just have to say this video is GENIUS... Good job Keri Hilson!!
Fairly new, her video for 'Pretty Girl Rock' incorporates several tributes to African-American singers and legends who have shown the world that people of any color can be 'pretty' too.
Included in those tributes are Josephine Baker, Dorothy Dandridge, Diana Ross, Donna Summers, Janet Jackson, and the group TLC.
Many times, especially today, music videos are just of singers mouthing the words to their song in different settings and I find it rare to see a music video with not only work and talent, but meaning as well. This video is a REAL music video and in my opinion, one of Keri Hilson's best works yet, I hope you enjoy it!

It's Christmas Tiiiiiiime!

So last night, me and my stepsister Courtney had to wrap my mom's present for Christmas and I decided that I should really do it more often, because it took us almost an hour to get the result shown in the pic above. LOL.
You can't really tell from the picture but it was bad... there is even a hole on the other side of it that we had to cover up with some more wrapping paper.

Of course, we all know that Christmas is not all about the gifts (even though it is a nice aspect of it), but it's about enjoying time with family and the ones you love! It is a time to be happy and joyful and I think a lot of people forget that, so don't over-stress about gifts and parties, just have a good time!

That being said, the end of the year is also coming up and I'm working on another blog basically recapping  my year so stay tuned! Also, I put up a poll on the side for your favorite song of 2010, so don't forget to vote for that!

Thank you so much to everyone for supporting and keeping up with my blog, it really means a lot and I hope to gain even more followers so I can reach out to even more people... Don't forget to enjoy Christmas! (I know you won't!)

Giving Advice on Being Noticed...

As many of you may know, one of my most favorite things to do is give advice, and I love when people write to me and ask me for it. So last week somebody left a comment and asked this:

dear b,
so question!? i am what people would say the invisible girl and duh who wants to be that how do i show guys i can be the fun girlfriend without looking like i am trying to hard?!
        -boy trouble
My response:
Well, there are a few different ways to look at this situation, and a few different ways to deal with it as well.
First, I could tell you to just wait until you find a guy who will like you for you, and second, I could give you a few tips on how to be noticed more.
No matter what, you need to stay true to yourself and be who you are. That's actually the #1 rule of life (according to me lol)...
Option 1: Don't change a thing about how you act or how you look. There is a guy out there who is looking for exactly what you have. It's all about timing and when you are going to meet him. So don't worry- your day will come one day when you meet that guy who likes you for you and he will notice you no matter what.
Option 2: First things first, what is going to get you noticed by guys? Wardrobe? Hair? Personality? Try all of the above... If you don't want to seem like you are overdoing it, then don't go out and buy a whole bunch of new clothes and high heels and stuff like that. Go into your closet, look at what you have and put a few nice outfits together. They don't have to be so over-the-top and dressy, wear an outfit that is going to make you feel comfortable while also looking good at the same time. If you wear your hair one way all the time, try changing it up every once in a while. For example, if you always wear a pony tail, let it down sometimes. Again, you don't have to go crazy and spend hours curling/straightening/blow-drying, just do something different. This might sound surprising to a lot of girls, but most guys don't look for a girl who has tons of makeup on and the most extravagant clothing. Most guys like when girls only have on a little bit of makeup and maybe some gloss, because we really do like the natural, effortless look. I can't stress it enough- don't go crazy! Lastly, if you want to be noticed by guys, the best accessory you can have is... a smile! Smiling and laughing all the time will let guys know that you are not only happy (which every guy wants), but you are approachable and also have a sense of humor. Girls are just more attractive when they're smiling, that's just that.
Option 3: Combine Option 1 and 2. Be yourself, stick to the way you act, but also step up your wardrobe and looks. This is the best option...
Just a couple things to remember... If you are wanting to be noticed, you cannot be constantly worried about overdoing it or trying too hard. You obviously have to keep it in mind if you want to follow the tips above but you can't always have it written on your hand that you are about to look stupid trying too hard. Go for it.
I have a feeling that you have a guy in your mind that you might have a crush on... You never know if he notices you or not! Maybe he's too shy to talk to you so maybe you have to make the move. It all depends on how bad you want that person. It will probably be hard to talk to him, so just try to make eye contact with him every once in a while at first, and if he still doesn't talk to you, then make your move.
So those are my main tips... After a couple months (because it will take some time), write me again and keep me updated on if this helped. If it doesn't, then I'll give you tips on what you did right or wrong...
For you and others who are reading this, I know I have preached, and preached, and preached about letting your beauty come from within. This is still so true. You need to become comfortable within yourself before you worry about your exterior looks... However, if it takes a little extra effort with your clothes and a little bit of lip gloss to feel good about yourself, then I'm all for it. Do what you need to do in order to feel confident, as long as it is not a.) something that will harm you or others and b.) something negative. If you need more tips on being confident, Click Here to read a previous blog I wrote about that...

So I really hope I have helped you out some, and I thank you so much for writing in. The most important things for you to remember are, stay true to yourself, be comfortable with whatever you are going to do, and last but not least, go for it.

Thanks for reading :)

Top Music of 2010

Nicki Minaj

2010 has been an amazing year for the music industry. So many unique artists have really made it big time, including the incredible woman shown above, Nicki Minaj. With a brand new album that just came out titled "Pink Friday", Nicki has literally been everywhere. Not only has she been promoting and performing on several talk shows such as Lopez Tonight and Live with Regis and Kelly, but she also released a documentary on MTV called "Nicki Minaj: My Time Now", which I really recommend everyone to see.
2010 has definitely been the year of music, and it's just starting with Nicki Minaj. There are many more other crazy talented musicians, and I have written about some of my most favorite from this year. I hope you enjoy and possibly agree :)
