The Death Penalty

What it is
The death penalty allows a person to be killed if a court's ruling permits. It is usually used in cases where someone has been accused of murder.

How I feel
The death penalty is wrong. I do not care if someone is a cold blooded killer, we as humans do not have the right to determine if somebody should die. The death penalty sends out the message that killing someone is an all right solution to a problematic issue and that it is okay. 1 in every 7 Death Row Inmates have been released since 1976 because they have been wrongly accused. People get so caught up in their emotions and how they feel about certain situations and trials that sometimes they forget that there still is that possibility that the accused person is truly innocent. We don't always know for a fact if someone is guilty, so how does it make any sense to just let someone die like that? Studies have also shown that crime-rates have not gone down at all since the Death Penalty has been around. People like to argue too, that the Death Penalty is beneficiary because it costs more to keep people in prison for life, however that is a misconception. It actually costs more money to have an inmate executed than to have someone in prison for the rest of their life. So how is the Death Penalty good? It's not. Do you think it gives people what they deserve? I feel it's not up to us to decide what people deserve, especially when it comes down to someone being alive or dead.
It is morally wrong to kill someone, I don't care what the circumstances are.
